The Motion of the Spherical Pendulum Subjected to a Dn Symmetric Perturbation

چکیده
The motion of a spherical pendulum is characterized by the fact that all trajectories are relative periodic orbits with respect to its circle group of symmetry (invariance by rotations around the vertical axis). When the rotational symmetry is broken by some mechanical effect, more complicated, possibly chaotic behavior is expected. When, in particular, the symmetry reduces to the dihedral group Dn of symmetries of a regular n-gon, n > 2, the motion itself undergoes dramatic changes even when the amplitude of oscillations is small, which we intend to explain in this paper. Numerical simulations confirm the validity of the theory and show evidence of new interesting effects when the amplitude of the oscillations is larger (symmetric chaos).

Dynamic Coupled Thermo-Viscoelasticity of a Spherical Hollow Domain
The generalized coupled thermo-viscoelasticity of hollow sphere subjected to thermal symmetric shock load is presented in this paper. To overcome the infinite speed of thermal wave propagation, the Lord-Shulman theory is considered. Two coupled equations, namely, the radial equation of motion and the energy equation of a hollow sphere are obtained in dimensionless form. Resulting equations are ...
متن کاملAssessing different nonlinear analysis methods for free vibrations of initially stressed composite laminated plates
In this paper, the nonlinear free vibrations of thin symmetric and non-symmetric cross-ply composite plates subjected to biaxial initial stresses are investigated. Because of their excellent properties such as specific strength and specific stiffness, composite plates have wide applications in aerospace and mechanical structures. Based on Von-Karman's strain-displacement relations and using Gal...

In this paper we investigate a biological framework to generate and adapt a motion pattern so that can be energy efficient. In fact, the motion pattern in legged animals and human emerges among interaction between a central pattern generator neural network called CPG and the musculoskeletal system. Here, we model this neuro - musculoskeletal system by means of a leg - like mechanical system cal...
متن کاملElectro-magneto-thermo-mechanical Behaviors of a Radially Polarized FGPM Thick Hollow Sphere
In this study an analytical method is developed to obtain the response of electro-magneto-thermo-elastic stress and perturbation of a magnetic field vector for a thick-walled spherical functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM). The hollow sphere, which is placed in a uniform magnetic field, is subjected to a temperature gradient, inner and outer pressures and a constant electric potenti...

In this paper a simple model of a three story building with inclined first-story columns has presented. The stories are supposed to be rigid and are connected to axially rigid mass less columns by elasto-plastic rotational springs and linear rotational dampers. The considered model is subjected to horizontal component of fault normal pulse with different magnitudes and the governed nonlinear di...
